Sunday School - Please see that your children are raised up with a close relationship with God. It is very important they grow closer to God in His word. The Bible story lessons are a beautiful program from Concordia Publishing, the official printer for the LCMS. Make the time to bring them to Sunday School. There are no costs for materials. There is an adult Bible study at the same time. We have coffee for the adults and other goodies for the children. Please join us.

Sunday School Valentine Mission

Each year the Sunday School students fill boxes and gift bags for our shut ins, college students, and military. This mission is to let those who cannot be with us every Sunday know they are always in our hearts. The students packed the bags and boxes with handmade cards and gifts, pictures of themselves, and lots of goodies. This year we gave to nine college students, five shut ins, and four military. We wish them all a happy Valentine’s Day and remind them how much God loves them.

Thrivent Builds – “Kickoff Breakfast”

I would like to invite you to a Kickoff Breakfast at the Michigan State University Educational facility in Troy on Saturday, March 20. We will provide a full buffet breakfast starting at 8:30 a.m. with the meeting starting at 9 a.m. We will finish by 11:30 a.m. The first part of the meeting will emphasize the Thrivent Builds homes being built in Pontiac in 2010; we will have the specific build schedules for your information. We will have a Habitat homeowner and staff from the Oakland Habitat there to answer your questions. The second part of the meeting will present a few other ministries that Thrivent is currently involved as well as some resources that Thrivent has that your church might want to become involved with. One specific ministry is called Kids Against Hunger, which involves packing dry food that is shipped to areas where food is desperately needed—Haiti is one of the areas much of this food is now going to. Thrivent Financial is continuing its support of Habitat for Humanity in 2010 in this alliance called Thrivent Builds. Over the past 4 years, Thrivent committed $125 million to Habitat, which resulted in 2000 homes for Habitat families around the world. Thrivent is continuing its support of Habitat in 2010 with a commitment of $15 million, which will fund 181 homes with 10 of those being in our local Region.
